Bigfoot Trailers / Excerpts shown at the Wildman Film Night, Horse Hospital, 5th November.

Watch a selection of movie titles, opening squences and trailers of the many Yeti/Bigfoot ’Four Wallers’,  'Mockumentaries' of the 1970’s, 1980’s Video Nasties, exploitation movies, contemporary pastiches and children's programs.

This film montage was shown as part of the Wildman Film Night I programed at the Horse Hospital on November 5th.
It was great fun to make.

Authentic Wildman fur relics were given to all attendees.

Larry Norman – Riding In The Saddle
Inside the world of the Christian music scene Larry Norman is a cult figure. He was a key member of 'the Jesus People' or 'Jesus Freaks'. I love the sound of his falsetto voice.
Broadcast And The Focus Group – intro/magnetic tales
I like the inspired collage of esoteric radiophonic séance sounds.
Orff/keetman – 09.riddles
I grew up listening to my Mother's music and movement records, this reminds me of them. Cerebral, disciplined and well-crafted percussion pieces, I imagine polished parquet floors of Victorian inner city schools. The children's voices evoke magical sprites, inhabitants of forests or the guardians of paths and stone bridges.
Faust – Stretch Over All Times
I tend to stitch and crop books and pamphlets to this.
Luboš Fišer – Brother And Sister
An eerie incidental piece of music from the Czech New Wave film 'Valerie and her Week of Wonders'; a very beautiful and magical soundtrack, I listen to this a lot.
Abba – The Day Before You Came
I can't get enough of this repressed, emotional and melodramatic track. My favorite Abba song.
Kathleen Ferrier – He Was Despised
The atmosphere of Ferrier's music helps me work into the early hours of the morning.
Camille Saint-Saëns – The Carnival of the Animals: Introduction & Royal March of the Lion
The Carnival of the Animals is by far one of my favorite pieces of music, it inspires me, helps me to concentrate and crack on with making work, it's so inventive and visual .I especially like the idiosyncratic choice of aquariums and the witty use of xylophone to convey the sound of fossils within the Suite.
Arthur Lyman – Love Song Of Kalua
1950's Exotica music to calm me down.
Vivian Stanshall – Ginger Geezer
This gives me a brimful of confidence.

Modern Lovers – Old World
(Hidden Track)

Inspiration during the Bristol residency - Paul Thek, Falmouth Clergy, Wildmen and Roman Goddesses.

Design something to sell on the street corner.
Design something to sell to the government.
Design something to put on an altar.
Design something to put over a child's bed.
Design something to put over your bed when you make love.
Make a monkey out of clay.

    Paul Thek 1978-81.
These requests been taken from a longer list devised for art students under Paul Thek's tutorship during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Each sentence inspires a different response and application.

Final outcomes are required, be they something to cherish, sacrifice, and inspire devotion or an item that’s playful, useful or symbolic.
Stephen Fowler intends to use Thek’s words as a way of guiding his on going interests, research and preoccupations towards a series of possible conclusions.

During the three-week residency in Bower Ashton’s printmaking department Fowler will be working with woodcut, rubberstamps and etched lino.

The Strawberry Thief, Fine Arts Society

Selected by Jeremy Deller, The Strawberry Thief brought together works from eight contemporary artists with modern British forebears who have inspired or fascinated them. Deller’s chosen title for the show, The Strawberry Thief, from a design by William Morris, reflects the idea that each artist – to continue the fruit metaphor – has been cherry-picked specifically and, in turn, ‘stolen’ a motif or idea to produce the dedication.

The work of Chris Ofili, Peter Doig, Paul Noble, Steven Claydon, Stephen Fowler, Tasha Amini, Ed Hall and Nick Pankhurst was shown with works by Edward Bawden, Edward Burra, Richard Dadd, Morris & Co, Eduardo Paolozzi, John Piper, Eric Ravilious, Walter Sickert and Christopher Wood.
